What does newborn care consist of?

Dr. Krishnamurthy meets with expectant parents before their baby is born. She answers any questions you might have and gets to know you and your family. 

Dr. Krishnamurthy also comes to the hospital after your newborn arrives to complete a first medical evaluation. She assesses your baby’s weight, length, head circumference, breathing, heartbeat, and overall health and wellness. She also completes screenings for medical issues and offers a first hepatitis B vaccination.

During initial newborn care appointments and subsequent visits, Dr. Krishnamurthy counsels you regarding feeding, nutrition, sleep patterns, growth, development, and health concerns to keep an eye out for. She completes additional evaluations as needed to keep your newborn as healthy as possible. 

When should I schedule newborn care visits?

Schedule a prenatal consultation with Dr. Krishnamurthy before your baby is born. After she evaluates your newborn in the hospital, schedule additional wellness checkups when your new baby is 3-5 days old, 1 month of age, and 2 and 4 months of age.
